Buffalo and Beyond (1995, 1996)
"Buffalo and Beyond" was one of my earlier projects at the State University of New York at Buffalo's Electronic Media Group.
This project is based on the notion that most of Buffalo's most interesting locales are located within a 15-minute drive from the University at Buffalo. I first worked on this project in the summer of 1995, but chose to redesign it (above) in the winter of 1996.
The original version did not rely upon frames, but had a very traditional navigation scheme which made navigation throughout the site understandable, but incredibly inconvenient. In designing the 1996 revision, my aims were to create a lighter and more interesting look than the original, and to utilize frames to provide quick, non-linear navigation which would still remain understandable to the user.
This project won the CASE Silver Award in 1996.
